film festivals

film festivals
The diversity of film festivals, together with the lack of a coherent policy on the part of the central administration, makes generalization difficult. The most prestigious is San Sebastián, followed by Valladolid and the Iberian-American Film Festival of Huelva, all three receiving official funding. Many others, such as those of Barcelona, Valencia or Madrid, are supported by the governments of the autonomous communities. Of the specialized types, the oldest are Bilbao (1958), devoted to documentary and shorts, and Sitges (1969) devoted to the fantastic and horror film.
